Is He Or Is He Not A Natural Born Citizen? Our Constitutional Crisis

This past Monday the Supreme Court denied the stay application in  Donofrio v. Wells. The Court has remained silent as to the reasoning behind their denial. This however is not the end of the issue. A flood of lawsuits are slowly making their way through the courts. Next in the long line is WROTNOWSKI v. BYSIEWICZ, United States Supreme Court Docket No. 08A469. This case was referred to the full Court by the Honorable Associate Justice Anotonin Scalia, and is set for full conference on December 12th.

I have seen two points of view concerning whether these legal pursuits are of legitimate concern, worthy of time, energy, and passion; or merely the result of disenfranchised and disgruntled conservatives flailing and grasping at straws in a vain attempt to dethrone the “Messiah.”

On one side we have DAVID HOROWITZ, who has written several stinging posts on his blog with titles such as, “Obama Derangement Syndrome.” David has also referred to fellow conservatives, such as Alan Keyes, as a “deranged demagogue.”  A quick review of the comments on David’s blog shows he is not winning any brownie points with his readers.

Alongside Horowitz, we have Michelle Malkin, who chimes in with the same tone with her post titled “Truthers to the left of me, truthers to the right.” The following videos should help Dave and Michelle clear their heads. (My thanks to Maggie’s Notebook for leading me to these great videos.) Unfortunately we stopped teaching this to our children a long time ago. Ignorance of these basic understandings of government explain how someone like Obama made it to office. It’s not more computers in the classroom, but more good books that would bring true educational reform.

On the other side of the divide (opposite to Horowitz and Malkin) we have Randall Hoven writing for the American Thinker. His most recent piece, titled “Obama and the Natural Born Citizen Clause,” addresses both Horowitz and Malkin directly, as well as giving a review of the evidence presented to prove Obama’s natural born citizenship status, or more accurately, the lack thereof.

While all of this infighting is going on, we still have no confirmation as to the status of Obama’s place of birth. He’s a stealth character to say the least. The simple fact remains that the question of place of birth could be laid to rest simply by Obama producing the ‘hard copy” of his birth certificate. What do I mean by “hard copy?” I’ll use my daughters as an example. When my daughters were born I was issued a copy of their birth certificates. These certificates included information such as my occupation, which was marked as “carpenter,” as well as detailed information such as place and time of birth, the name of the doctor, and an imprint of my daughters’ feet.

I had lost these “hard copies” during a move. Years later I went to the Jackson County Court House to get new copies of the certificates. What I received was nothing like the originals I was given when they were first born. What I received was a copy similar to the one Obama placed on the web, a watered down version of the original. I was told that they no longer issue copies of the originals.

Somewhere Obama has an original birth certificate, as do all of us, that has all the information that would prove his place of birth, thus ending the debate on his qualification to be our President, as set out in our Constitution. So why has Obama failed to produce to the public his “real” birth certificate and lay this controversy to rest? Why? Note that the birth “Certificate” provides a field where one can register a “FOREIGN” birth in Hawaii:

Obama coming forward would clear up the first line of argument centered around where in the heck Obama was born. However, there is another line of argument dealing with Obama’s father, who, beyond a shadow of doubt, was a British subject when Barack was born. This is problematic, and opens legitimate, and important, Constitutional questions. What is a “Natural Born Citizen?” I’ll address this question in my next post.
