Whether you’re a believer or non-believer, when confronting bible slavery, don’t let anyone throw up this ridiculous smokescreen that says that the slavery instituted in the old testament was so completely different to, say, pre-civil war US slavery. The usual tactic is to throw facts and rules about Israelite indentured servitude around, to throw you off the scent of a Yahweh-mandated form of slavery EVERY BIT as bad as anything we’ve seen in recent centuries. This line of argument is so prevalent that I’m confused as to whether its proponents actually believe it or not; but either way, this video is my attempt to inject a bit of reality into this very important area of discussion. The god of the bible mandated oppressive life-long slavery of foreigners – pretty much a concise description of one of the worst forms of human rights abuses the world has ever had to grapple with. It’s as simple as that. No, I don’t hate God for mandating slavery, and no I don’t believe that God is evil for mandating slavery. I don’t believe that THIS god, the absurd god of the bible, is even extant, let alone worthy of any adjectives beyond that! This god’s inhumane and ridiculously cruel commands say nothing about the god that they are ascribed to, simply because they are so obviously ascribed to a god by the men in whose image this god was made. Deal with it folks; your god is the brainchild of some particularly awful humans. The bible simply and clearly gets this very easy human rights …

Yeah I’m aware. I actually uploaded the videos and then added the subtitles as annotations, and it was a pain in the butt to sync the annotations with the speech (especially in Noah’s Ark cause they speak real fast (and with all the animal names…)

You know there is good justification for an arrest. A police officer has to be able to demonstrate that arresting this person was justified and continuing to hold them under arrest is justified. Tell me how a slave master or a kidnapper is justified to do so and to hold them in such a state for an extended period of time? Honestly I’m not sure how you draw this distinction between biblical kidnapping and biblical slavery.

Even though I suspect this is not a good ideal, I’ll ask anyway. Could you name one shred of proof, evidence or person outside of the Bible that shows or names the existence of Rabbi Yashua as a real person by a secular person or historian not part of your cult? Please don’t insult our intelligence naming someone born decades or centuries after he supposedly died either. That’s why it’s called faith and not truth. Does believing in magic come with top hat and rabbit?
Does anyone know if the Bible says that child molesting is wrong? Is there a minimum age for marrying a “young woman”? So far I know of no verse that says that.

Let me try again: The ultimate implication of your stance is that it’s okay to behave in an evil way if your actions are accepted by your culture as normal and proper. If not “okay”, you’re at the very least saying that it’s wrong to judge someone as immoral for indulging in behavior that, though wrong, is okay in their society. I disagree with this position. You’re not free to say, “that group isn’t big (or important) enough to call a cultural influence” and have your position mean anything.
I believe that forming your moral views based on the cultural norm is irresponsible at best. You make assumptions about me – in fact, you judge me – based on how my approach to morality differs from your own. At least my way of arriving at my morality is consistent. There is no “cultural arrogance” in my stance. I’ll admit to a bit of personal arrogance, but *anyone* who is certain that they are right presents that face.
You “care” when directly exposed to the suffering of others. Seeing a dead stranger is nothing like seeing a dead loved one, certainly. But seeing a stranger after the death of her loved one – watching her crying, in pain… Most people respond on a deep emotional level to such things. That is not taught. Your claims about “the majority of people not having objections” to slavery are not only unsupported but *irrelevant* when discussing morality unless you are supporting a “mob rules” mindset.

I would like this, though attacking Islam is dangerous due to the amount of crazies following it. If you attack the Christian God, you aren’t likely to have their followers go and murder you for it.
I do not at all mean to imply that all Muslims are violent or anything of that sort, but it is more dangerous to go about even remotely insulting their religion than it is to insult Christians. So not wanting to do a video on Islam is understandable, if that is what someone is thinking.
Making fun of Islam is unfashionable because it isn’t practiced by many English speakers. I’d love to see an Arab denounce Islam in Arabic the same way the OP picks apart Christianity in his channel.
Morality ISN’T subjective? Tell me, if I wanted to marry my neighbor’s 5 year old daughter and have sex with her, how could OBJECTIVELY prove that this is wrong? What are the Bible’s OBJECTIVE age limits on marriage and sexual relations? As an amoral atheist, I’d sure like to know more about what the Bible has to say.
