“A couple of weeks ago, the Centro de Estudios Borjanos in Borja, Spain, received a donation from the granddaughter of 19th-century painter Elías García Martínez. At the time, the Centro knew of only one painting by Martínez in Borja — Ecce Homo, a fresco on the walls of the church of Santuario de Misericordia…The restored version is apparently the work of an octogenarian neighbor of the church, who, noticing the damage to the painting, took it upon herself to restore the painting “with good intentions” but “without asking permission,” as culture councillor Juan Maria de Ojeda put it. It became clear to the amateur restorer — quickly, one imagines — that “she had gotten out of hand,” and she confessed to local authorities…”.* Ana Kasparian and Cenk Uygur discuss on The Young Turks. *Read more here from Max Read in Gawker: gawker.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: bit.ly Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

Wait, we have no idea of how Jesus really looked like. Maybe her drawing is closer to the real Jesus, who was in fact half human half chimp. So if we assume Mary was a human, we have to conclude God is a monkey…

You live in that illusion…Every society was build with Christian Teachings and they all started from Christian Orthodox Greek Byzantine Empire, so be careful what you say because you go against civilized society, before you lived like Barbarians with human sacrifices and magic.

ahahahhahaha! Go read some History…China was educated from Byzantine Libraries…READ SOME HISTORY PLEASE! Also i can see their civilization….fascists…child abuse…extremely poor workers…political assassinations….religion ban and much much more…

  23. ChipArgyle on January 11, 2013 at 8:10 am

The Byzantine libraries originated less than 2,000 years ago. The Chinese have had a continuous culture for about 5,000 years, with documented history predating the Byzantine era by nearly 2,000 years. Go do the math. I’ll wait.

And of course, the Chinese eagerly translated Roman documents into Chinese so they could assimilate a foreign nation’s culture and norms. Historically, the Chinese have been so open to adopting other cultures, right?

Wow your brain must be really tiny….We the Greeks ruled this land (and much more land) 17000 years now…All the ancient Greek and ancient roman knowledge was inside Byzantines Empire Library and from every world people came to educate themselves…Chinese people was civilized like us when they read this knowledge…they didn’t had any interesting discovery until Alexander the Great and then Byzantine Empire…We take silk worms and evolve silk, they had silk but not high quality like ours..
